The Porsche Cayman 987 is produced since 2005 on the basis of Porsche Boxster. It comes in three versions, the Cayman, Cayman S and Cayman R, the latter two favoring sportsmanship. It underwent a slight restyling in 2009, further improving engine power and performance.The Cayman 6-cylinder flatbed engines benefit from the "VarioCam Plus", a variable timing system for intake and lift of the valves. It maximizes torque in the low-rev range and increases power at high rpm while reducing fuel consumption. The flat 6 Cayman draws its power of 245 hp (180 kW) or 265 hp (195 kW) after the 2009 restyling, a displacement of 2.7 liters (2.9 liters after 2009). It reaches a maximum torque of 273 Nm (300 Nm after 2009). In the original version, the Cayman is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. As an option, it can receive the Sport Package with a more sporty six-speed manual transmission and the Porsche Active Suspension Management, or a five-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with steering wheel controls.
